Ramagiri Khilla or Ramagiri Fort is a magnificent place to be visited by anyone looking for a great day out in beautiful picturesque natural surroundings. Surroundings of this fort are not only extremely beautiful but when you reach the top of this marvelous creation, you can witness the merging of the rivers Manair and Godavari.

The Ramagiri fort lies on the Karimnagar – Manthani highway, about 2 kilometers from the Begumpet village. Ramagiri fort is about 60 KMs from Karimnagar, Telengana. The fort was built in the 12th century by the Kakatiyas of Warangal. Later it was controlled by the Qutub Sahi Sultanate (1518–1687). In 1656, the ruler of Golconda, Abdullah Qutb Shah, gave the fort to his son-in-law, one of Aurangzeb's sons. The fort came under the control of the British Raj in 1791.

Built in stone, the fort has many bastions and occupies a large area of a few square kilometres. The bastions are in octagonal shape. The fort had been fitted with four forge-welded cannons on the masonry battlements which were built to a height of 12 metres (39 ft) as part of the fort walls. It has been noted that the mud plaster which covered some of the structures in thick layers was a combination of mud, lime, reeds, hair of animals, or even blood of animals.
There are many important sites on the hill fort right from the mythological related places to the recent constructed places by the kings, rulers who ruled this place.
The mythological related places, which attract a lot of devotees, are:
  • Rama sthapita Lingam: The Shiva lingam which was installed by Lord Sri Rama for his prayers
