Kishtwar Kailash Road

#ashokasays Did you know 228:

If you are a driving enthusiast, then this is  the post for you. One of the world's most scariest road to drive on is Kishtwar Kailash Road.

The road between Kishtwar and the basecamp of Kishtwar Kailash, a 6.451m mountain, is one of the scariest roads in the world. Its located at the eastern extremity of the Kishtwar District of the Jammu region in Jammu and Kashmir, India.  To reach this trail, you can arrive to this area from the west, taking the road over the Rohtang Pass from Manali to the Chenab Valley and then following the Darlang Valley to the base of the mountain. The climb is simply terrible, with a notorius lack of oxygen that tests the organisms and a high degree of steepness.

The road is windy, narrow, and without guard rail at streches. The overhanging cliff is so low that a Tata Sumo or similar car would barely fit. The sharp turns with cliff obstruct the view, making it all the more difficult to make those turns. One mistake and the drop is of about 600 m.
