DHYAN CHAND - DESERVES BHARAT RATNA

#ashokasays Did you know 72 :

In my earlier message I had mentioned about India's hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand declining Hitler's offer of Germany citizenship.
There are more to know about the Great man, Major Dhyan Chand..
Born on 29th August 1905 in Allahabad, Dhyan "Singh" used to love wrestling. He got his name as Dhayan "Chand" because he used to practice during late hours under the moon (Chand) light, ; his fellow players gave him the name. 29th August is celebrated as National sports day.
The fear of his marvelous game play forced the officials in Netherlands to break his hockey stick to check if there was a magnet inside.
He helped India earn Olympic gold in 1928, 1932 & 1936
He was known as the "The Wizard". He scored more than 400 goals in his international career.(101 in Olympics alone)
To honor Dhyan Chand, the citizens  of Vienna, Austria set up a statue of him with 4 hands and 4 sticks to depict his MAGNIFICENT skill and control with the ball.

Truly a person deserving BHARAT RATNA..
