Akshardham Temple in Delhi is a brilliant example of modern day Architecture and Engineering
It is one of the biggest and most intricate religious place of worship ever constructed.
Built without any steel it is constructed entirely using sandstone and marble.
It consists of 234 ornately carved pillars, 9 ornate domes, 20 shikhars, a spectacular Gajendra Pith (plinth of stone elephants) and 20000 murthis of sadhus, devotees, acharyas and devine personalities.
The Gajendra pith stretching 1070ft and weighing 3000 tons has 148 full size elephants, 42 birds and animals, 125 human sculptures.
The Akshardham parikrama consists of 1152 pillars, 145 windows and 154 samvaran shikhars amounting to 53956 stones.
